I purchased these as a Christmas present to my Japanese step-mom who is notoriously picky about what she likes--especially if it is a Japanese item. She LOVES these plates and the other matching items. They currently are some of her favorite pieces of formal dishware for her Japanese dining room. She gingerly keeps them wrapped up in a drawer and only takes them out for special occasions.

The only issue I had was that the bowls were not available at the time I purchased all the plates.
