I try to buy American whenever I can...especially when it comes to an American Classic like the porch rocker. So I thought I'd give these a try. Ordering, shipping, and arrival were all fine. I ordered 2 and one of the rocker slats arrived with a hairline crack in it which split wide open during assembly. So, I had to call them and get a replacement piece sent. They were fine about doing this, but just another hassle as I had to wait.

The wood is Carolina ASH (or other hardwood)...in fact, it is almost TOO hard. You must be very careful when assembling this. If you overtighten any of the screws there is a good chance you will SPLIT the wood.
I am an advanced DIY'er and did not find assembly all that easy. You need a workbench or work table to put the chair on at one point during the assembly process when you screw the seat to the frame. The rocker slats attach with some wood glue and a tiny brad nail. This surprised me as it seems less than sturdy. Once fully assembled the chair looks nice, but will emit some LOUD pops and creaks during the first few times it is sat in.

One of my chairs is loose and has some play in the assembled parts despite following the directions to a tee. Assembly screws are included but there are no wood plugs or other way to cover up the screw ends which are metal against your black rocker finish. I had to use a marker to paint over the exposed screws on mine.

Enter the LOWES porch rocker. It is only $100, is slightly larger, more sturdy, easier to assemble, and you can pick it up locally. The Lowes rocker assembles with bolts and screws. It also thoughtfully comes with wood plugs to cover up any exposed holes/screws/bolts.

I will keep these simply to avoid the hassle of returning them.
