Product Description
For use with Vantage Pro and Vantage Pro2. (Already included with Vantage Pro Plus and Vantage Pro2 Plus.) Measures solar radiation and is required (along with an anemometer and a temperature/humidity sensor) if you wish to monitor evapotranspiration. Diffuser element and housing are carefully designed for accurate cosine response. Silicon photo diode provides good match to solar spectrum. Two-piece housing minimizes radiation heating, allows convection cooling of the sensor, and prevents the trapping of water or dust. Includes built-in level and 3' (0.9 m) cable. You may also need a UV Sensor (Davis Part #6490) and Sensor Mounting Shelf (Davis Part #6673).Davis Solar Radiation Sensor Part #6450 Review
I purchased this to monitor the solar intensity, evapotranspiration, and THSW index. Recieved this in the mail, got it hooked up, immediatly the console picked up on it. Since then I had bought a 25 Ft 4 conductor cable to extend the sensor to a height where the shadows of the houses don't cut it off. Works really well. I didn't buy the 36$ mounting shelf. I found things around the house to mount it. Can be a little tricky mounting it. But all in all it's a great item. I hope to buy the UV sensor soon. I highly recommend this and all Davis items. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Davis Solar Radiation Sensor Part #6450" are high quality item.
